Mandatory Tuberculosis screening in Finland
All students in the social and healthcare fields are required to undergo a tuberculosis (TB) screening. This screening is  mandatory and must be completed in Finland, before you can participate in the required internship, graduate from your  program, or seek employment in the sector. Exact timing will be discussed in collaboration with the school and health  care sector.

Reason for Screening
The TB screening is conducted to ensure the health and safety of both students and clients. It is a critical measure in  preventing the spread of tuberculosis within healthcare environments. Although tuberculosis is rare in Finland, it remains  a common infectious disease worldwide. A student coming from a high-risk country may unknowingly carry and spread  tuberculosis within their close community. To prevent this, Finland conducts TB screenings.

Screening Process
The screening includes the following steps:
• A medical examination
• A chest X-ray (if necessary)
• A TB skin test or blood test

Cost of Screening
Students are responsible for covering the costs of the TB screening. The total cost estimate is around 300 EUR, covering  the medical examination and TB exclusion report and the chest X-ray with a radiologist's report. Prices may vary by  clinic.

• Students are advised to obtain these  vaccinations before arriving to Finland and  starting their studies.
• Students must present an official vaccination certificate/document/proof showing which vaccines they have received and when they have been administered. This is mandatory  and crucial for the on-the-job training. Any required supplementary vaccinations must be covered by the students themselves.
• If additional examinations or vaccines are required in Finland by the institution, public authority, employer, or SPI, the student must cover them at their own expense.
